Winter Roundup

I didn't realize how long I went without blogging until checking my previous posts... oops.

It's hard when Tumblr already distracts me during my free time, on top of work, hobbies, and other things I have to do to keep myself from getting thrown off-course health-wise. Winter as a whole wears me out, so all I could muster was just keeping tabs on people who actually do blog on here and mentally file posts away as an idea for later. But after the the notes thread debacle on Tumblr, I realized that it'd be nice to try and keep up some kind of blogging, even though I'll be attached to that blue hellsite until it completely collapses in on itself. So I'm going to try and post at least once a week about whatever I'm interested in!

For this post, here's a list of things that kept me afloat during the brutal cold!

Books

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This was SUCH a fun read. I also found the oral history aspect of the story to be unique and add to both the characters and the plot.

The Country Will Bring Us No Peace by Matthieu Simard

This is a much heavier book. It's about a couple who are dealing with grief while moving to a rural town that also has it's own grieving underneath. Getting a look at the characters' mindsets, and how their grief has affected them, is so heartbreaking, but also really well-written.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Another TJR book, for this one, I love following a character through the story of their life. Another fun book!

TV

The main thing I watched this season was the fourth season of Industry! I got into it late last year (blew through the first three seasons within a couple of weeks). There's just something interesting about very messy people living their lives and get deeper into a hole because of their mistakes. The latest season definitely showed how depraved they can be (although I do have my critiques). But god, Myha'la and Marisa Abela, you two will always be FAMOUS!!

Music

I've been cycling through some old favorites and listening to stuff that new to me, but in terms of recent releases, the standouts for me are Mitski's Nothing's About To Happen To Me and Arima Ederra's A Rush to Nowhere. They're both stark in their style and mood, but they've both touched me in a way that's hard to shake off (not that I want to though).

Miscellaneous

At the suggestion of my Tumblr mutual, knockmeforsix, I took part this year's Februllage challenge! Basically you make a collage piece based off a a prompt for each day in February. Some were harder than others, but I still had a lot of fun, and I got a few favorites out of it. Here are a few of my favorites

Bottle

Plant

Watermelon and Last

Witch

That about sums up my winter! Hopefully spring will be much nicer, lol!
